Flor da Moda
History: A family Success
Established in 12th May 1981, Flor da Moda – Confecções, S.A. , started its activity as a small familiar confection unit, producing menswear and ladies wear and reaching only to the nearest cities at the beggining. In a short period of time, the market grown and the target-markets for production were increased.
In 1987, the company takes part in the International Fair PORTEX, in which the company causes good impression and in which it makes the first international contacts. Then, participates in other similar fairs, starting the growth of exports to several markets, namely the Scandinavian markets, such as
Sweden,
Norway, Finland, Denmark, Austria, Netherlands, and also England, France, Spain, South America and Middle East countries.
This growth mainly results from the company's specialization in the garments production, especially from the investment in technological and human resources, search for designs and colours in fashion. In 1991, the company abandons menswear production and starts to specialize in the production of ladies garments.
Taking advantage of this productive know-how the company creates the label ANA SOUSA , characterized for having its own and well defined concept. The sustained growth of this business, combined with a maximization of the human and technological resources and know-how, forced a deep change in the market approach.
Therefore, in 1998, the company has the need to create an appropriate distribution circuit in order to become a privileged channel in the relation with the consumer. This aim appeared essentially as a market opportunity in the consolidation of the label ANA SOUSA, resulting in the opening of the pilot-shop in Lugo, Spain. This step was decisive in the establishment of a net of shops. Nowadays, the company has 54 selling posts, being the label also represented in some of the most privileged multiple label shops in the main cities of the world. |
